Beihang University (abbreviated as Beihang) was established in 1952 by merging the aviation departments of eight institutions: Tsinghua University, Beiyang University, Northwestern Institute of Technology, Xiamen University, Sichuan University, School of Engineering of North China University, Yunnan University, and Southwest Technical College. After two adjustments, it was reorganized and formed as the first higher education institution in aerospace in New China, currently under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
