To further promote reform and innovation in experimental teaching, improve the quality of innovative talent cultivation, and thoroughly implement the Ministry of Education's emphasis on strengthening students' experimental teaching, practical abilities, and innovation abilities, the 6th "Micro Cup" Metallographic Skills Competition was successfully held at Hebei University of Technology on August 27, 2022. The competition was hosted by the School of Materials Science and Materials Science and organized by Micro Instrument Optoelectronics (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.

This metallographic skills competition was divided into four groups. Each group had participants complete manual grinding, mechanical polishing, etching, and metallographic microscopic observation within 40 minutes. During the competition, the students overcame difficulties and all completed their matches smoothly, demonstrating excellent competitive spirit. The judges adhered to principles and strict requirements, completed the evaluation tasks conscientiously, and provided positive suggestions to contestants during the competition. In the end, 5 students won first prize, 10 students won second prize, and 15 students won third prize.

This metallographic skills competition not only provided students with a platform to showcase their overall abilities, but also achieved new breakthroughs in practical experimental teaching methods. It effectively expands the practical abilities of materials majors, plays an important role in improving students' practical skills, and serves to promote practical teaching through competitions, with the goal of promoting practical teaching through competitions.
